NYS banned natural gas in new constructions

My house is powered by oil - I learned that people need to pay for oil to gas conversion out of their own pockets, including the pipeline. Although natural gas is much environmentally friendly, I don't see the policy encouragement for the conversion.
Interestingly, New York passed a ban on natural gas in new construction to create environmentally friendly houses. The ban, part of New York's climate agenda to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, prohibits natural gas-powered stoves, furnaces, and propane heating.
Policy is a powerful thing to make the change. Although I don't know if there are group actions on the existing house heating efficiency, this is a step forward to the climate control goal - less fossil fuel usage is on the way in New York.
